Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi

The Institute of Economic Growth, is an autonomous body and civil service training institute under the Government of India, founded in 1952 by the renowned economist, V.K.R.V Rao, for advanced research on economic and social development. It is widely regarded as a centre of excellence in the field.

Career: An institute that trains the selected candidates into Indian Economic Service through the civil services examination organised by the Union Public Service Commission.

Beyond the Classroom conducted it's very first visit of the session 2019-2020 to the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) North Campus, Delhi on 11 September 2019. IEG is also known as the green building. The students met two professors of this eminent institution- Director Ajit Mishra and Professor Amita Baviskar and had a very interactive and intellectual session with them.

Professor Amita Mishra told the students that this institution provides training to the trainee officers of Indian Economic Services (IES). He discussed about the current issues like "slowdown of automobile sector" . Professor Amrita Baviskar expressed her views on how economics can be used as a tool to protect environment. 



The library at the centre holds extensive research papers by the collective efforts of professors and it's alumni. Open for all students, definitely check this one out. 
The website also has archives of these publications, giving access to outstation students interested in the field of economics.

The institute hosts one of the best faculties in India, in the field of economics and socio-political sciences. 
The members of BTC Club of session 2021, congratulate the seniors for their successful visit at this institute of eminence and for this initiative that till date inspires us to think beyond the classrooms.
